Boston Daily Mail is first published.

1841

It is published by John Daley, initially from a shop at today’s 60 State Street (then 14 – 16 State Street). The paper boasts a circulation of 20,000. On September 27, 1841, it publishes what is reputed to be the largest newspaper in history, an edition that measures 52 inches by 12 feet. A copy remains in the possession of the Boston Public Library. The newspaper continues to publish until 1853.
